(CNN) – Chipotle is taking a closer look at the amount of food it serves to customers as it addresses portion size complaints from patrons.
The Mexican restaurant chain’s interim CEO Scott Boatwright mentioned taking on the issue during an earnings call Tuesday.
Boatwright said there’s been a rash of complaints on social media regarding inconsistent portion sizes at the fast-casual restaurant.
And apparently there’s some truth to the outrage.
Earlier this year an analyst from Wells Fargo weighed 75 of Chipotle’s burrito bowls at several New York City locations.
The result … varying portion sizes.
Frustrated Chipotle customers shared videos of their burritos being built while they ordered that soon went viral with many of them accusing the company of skimping on servings.
Boatwright said the company is focusing on consistent and generous portions for its customers.
A former Chipotle official said employees were never told to serve different amounts of food, but a re-evaluation of the overall process is needed.
