Big Timber Brewing hosts square dance in collaboration with Augusta Heritage Center [Video]

ELKINS, W.Va. (WBOY) — Community members came to dance Tuesday night as Big Timber Brewing hosted a square dance at its Elkins brewery as part of the Augusta Heritage Center’s summer event series.

On hand at the dance was Andy Fitzgibbon and Friends playing music for the hoedown and sing calls. During the event, Mike Miller called the dance where the promenade and couples held hands and walked counterclockwise around the square.

“Square dancing is a beautiful community art form. So, it really encourages people, it encourages entire families to come out and dance together. And everything is taught so you don’t have to necessarily come with background knowledge,” Augusta Heritage Center’s Chief Creative Officer Emily Miller said. “Square dancing has been a real boon to this community over the last decade, many decades, and it is so heartwarming to see the deep interest in it coming back.”
