HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Beulah Ann Ballard Toney, a dedicated community leader and advocate, has passed away, family members have confirmed with FOX54. 89-year-old Toney passed on Thursday, according to an obituary posted by Nelms Memorial Funeral Home.
Toney, a native of Limestone County, was a proud graduate of Trinity High School, the only Black school in the county, and then later, briefly, Alabama A&M University. Throughout her life, she worked tirelessly to improve her community, often foregoing recognition or compensation. Known as an unsung hero, she made lasting contributions to local organizations and initiatives.
Her legacy includes her role as a founding member of the Bo Matthews Center for Excellence, the Beulah Ballard Toney Scholarship, and the Meadow Hills Initiative.
