Berlin was one of the first school districts to bring in armed resource officers after Sandy Hook. The superintendent said it’s important to keep moving forward to come up with new ideas and look at national trends on the best ways to keep students safe.

“We have armed security in every building and we’ve had them for over six years, we have security vestibules in every building and we have protocols in place, it’s not to say we couldn’t have more,” Superintendent Brian Benigni said.

Some of the things they are looking at for future improvements artificial intelligence for weapons protection and internal mass communication for staff members.
