RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – With the smoky haze covering the Black Hills region from the Canadian Wildfires, Rapid City officials remind people to stay aware of air quality conditions.

People can do so by checking the ‘Air Quality Index’ link on the Rapid City website.

The online feature shows the current air quality in the Rapid City area and any community in the nation by entering the zip code, city, or state.

As of 9 a.m. Monday, the Air Quality Index reading for Rapid City was listed at ‘164′, which is in the red category with the description ‘Unhealthy’.

The site is updated hourly and provides useful information, especially for those who have health conditions.
