Charlie Stayt was forced to interrupt BBC Breakfast after the sad news landed that Janey Godley had passed away.
The 63-year-old comedian had been battling overian cancer, updating her social media viewers just weeks ago to tell them the disease was now terminal and she “didn’t know if she’d see Christmas this year”.
Sadly, it was announced that the Scottish star had passed away with her family and loved ones at her side, as Charlie paused the programme to make the important breaking news announcement.
Immediately after Charlie had broken the news a tribute to Janey played out on BBC screens, celebrating her career, time in the spotlight and her courageous fight against cancer.
Back in September, Janey was forced to cancel her ‘Why Is She Still Here?’ tour after annoucing she was now receiving palliative care after being diagnosed with cancer.
