The Wisconsin Better Business Bureau wants to warn you about garage repair companies that may try to take advantage of you.
Unfortunately, garage door repair scams are common. The Wisconsin BBB says it has numerous reports right now of what it’s calling unscrupulous emergency garage door repair companies.
These companies target homeowners by advertising their emergency repair services. They then inflate the amount of work needed or the parts needed for repair.
The BBB says these companies take advantage of urgent situations and prey on your lack of knowledge about garage door parts and service costs.
There are signs of a garage door repair scam.
The first, the BBB says, is the business name. Garage door scammers often use multiple names that are generic and unclear and aren’t listed as a legally registered business with the state.
