Bayonne 17-year-old shot dead in apartment, Jersey City teen charged [Video]

A Bayonne teen was shot dead Sunday inside a city apartment and a juvenile from Jersey City has been arrested, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said Thursday.

John “Johnny” Dominguez, 17, is being mourned as “an amazing young man” who was “loved by many” across social media. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to pay for funeral and burial expenses.

“We are all devastated by this unexpected loss, and we know the community is as well,” Julius Dominguez, his brother, said on the fundraiser site. “Johnny was well known and greatly loved by everyone who knew him.”

As of Thursday afternoon, more than $13,000 had been raised.

The prosecutor’s office said Bayonne police officers and firefighters were notified of an unresponsive man, later identified as Dominguez, in an apartment at 124 West Third St.
