BAY CITY, MI. (WJRT) – A Bay City man accused of killing and dismembering another man will have a psychiatric evaluation.
40 year old Robert Tweedy, Jr. was in court today for a settlement conference when his attorney requested the exam.
His attorney says Tweedly has a history of mental illness and there have been concerning social media posts in the past as well.
Tweedly said little in court during today’s hearing.
Tweedly faces two charges, including murder, for the death of Justie Stilwell.
Tweedly’s attorney Jim Piazza filed a petition to have Tweedly evaluated at Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Ypsilanti to determine if he is competent to stand trial, as well as to determine whether he can be held criminally responsible.
“There is a past history of some mental health issues and because of that, I am obligated to send him down to the forensic center for the evaluation,” says Piazza.
