Baseball Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg gives major update in cancer battle [Video]

Ryne Sandberg shocked the sports world back in January when he announced that he was battling metastatic prostate cancer.

Friday brought some big-time news in that battle for the Hall of Fame former Cubs second baseman and Phillies manager.

Sandberg is cancer free.

Sandberg revealed on Instagram this week that he got to ring the bell, signaling that he is cancer free and that his treatment has ended.

“Rang the Bell this morning!” he wrote underneath a photo of him smiling, bell in hand. “We did it, WE won! What a Dream. Team, family, doctors, friends, nurses, fans who supported myself and Margaret through the last 8 months! We feel so blessed from all the love, prayers and thoughts and positive words that have come our way! Modern medicine has come along way so once again early detection is important. Annual doctor visits! Time to celebrate! #godisgood”
