Bartlesville community celebrates new memorial at Veterans Park | News [Video]

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — The Bartlesville community celebrated the newly-constructed Veterans Park Memorial on Monday.

FOX23 attended the dedication ceremony for the memorial.

The memorial honors those who have served our country and their families.

Veterans Park was developed in 1960, so this new memorial has been a long time coming.

FOX23 spoke with Community Development Director Larry Curtis.

“Bartlesville, we are a very prideful community to our Veterans, very proud for what they have done and what they have provided for us,” Curtis said.

It’s also the legacy for the late Ward 4 City Councilor Billie Roanelate who passed away earlier this year. 

“She had come to Bartlesville and noticed we have a beautiful Veterans Park but had no memorial associated with it, so she really took it to heart to make that happen,” Curtis said.

A statement from current Ward 4 Councilor Quinn Schipper, who replaced Roane on the council following her passing, was included in the announcement:
