LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Humans and their four-legged best friends took over Big Four park Sunday.

Bark and Brunch by the Bridge was held at Waterfront Park at the Brown Forman Amphitheater in partnership with the Kentucky Humane Society.

People brought their dogs, enjoyed the nice weather, and learned about adoption and fostering opportunities.

There were several vendors on hand offering refreshments.

The event focuses on the urgent need for adoption as shelters in the area remain near or at capacity.

“We wouldn’t be able to keep our doors open without volunteers and foster so it is very important to learn about our programs,” said Haley Aldridge, the development manager for the Kentucky Humane Society.

Bark and Brunch by the Bridge is part of a series of five events, and another is planned for October.
