Banksy London artwork protected by barrier after fans climb on it | UK News [Video]

A barrier has been erected around a Banksy piece described as ‘criminal damage’ since it was unveiled in London yesterday.

People have flocked to take photos of the school of piranhas painted on the windows of a City of London Police box since it appeared on Sunday morning.

Some have even climbed inside for the perfect pose in pictures seen on social media.

But access has been cut off since a barrier was erected around the police box, located on Ludgate Hill.

Police described the Banksy mural as ‘criminal damage’ yesterday, telling Metro: ‘We are liaising with the City of London Corporation who own the police box.’

The painting’s future is yet to be decided.

A spokesperson for the City of London Corporation told Metro: ‘We’re aware of the works on the City of London Police Box on Ludgate Hill. We are currently working through options to preserve the artwork.’
