Ballot Initiative for New Dilworth Community Center [Video]

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – The old community center in Dilworth, which also served as the house for the town’s fire department, had been rapidly reaching the end of its viable lifespan in the past few years.

Officials secured a large amount of state and federal funding to build a brand new fire house recently. Now, they’re hoping voters in Dilworth will step to the plate and approve a sales tax increase to take care of the community center.

“We’re posed to do great things – if our citizens will support the local option sales tax,” said Mayor Chad Olson.

The proposal is to raise that sales tax by half a percent for up to 25 years, or until the city’s funding goal is reached. They’re hoping to garner about $6.1 million from the bump.
