Baby in Maine treated for drug overdose, sheriff’s office says [Video]

MEXICO, Maine — A man from Dixfield is facing charges after officials say a 9-month-old baby was taken to Maine Medical Center on Monday for a drug overdose.

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office and Rumford Police Department were called to a home on Roxbury Road in Mexico, Maine, on Monday for a 9-month-old baby girl who was unresponsive and turning blue, the sheriff’s office said Tuesday in a press release.

The baby was taken to Rumford Hospital, where she was treated with numerous doses of Narcan for a drug overdose, the release stated. Toxicology reports confirmed the baby girl tested positive for cocaine and marijuana and was suffering from an opioid overdose, the sheriff’s office said. She was later transferred to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
