A POPULAR market has announced they are set to close for good – leaving customers “devastated”.

Achonry Farmers Market, located at Nace O’Dowd Park in Sligo, is shutting its market after four years in business.

The weekly market first opened up in August 2020, during the COVID-19 crisis.

The market has since become a huge part of the community, with locals and tourists coming to visit on weekends.

However, Coolaney Mullinabreena GAA club shared the sad news on social media on Thursday evening.

The organisation revealed that the community market has to close down due to progress plans to construct a clubhouse for the GAA club.
