Authorities investigate death of Kenosha County jail inmate [Video]

A summit to address how Kenosha-area law enforcement can collaborate to better serve the public touched on a number of timely topics Wednesday, including the opioid crisis, human trafficking and multi-jurisdictional communications.

The summit, for which Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kerkman played host, included the police chiefs from Kenosha, Pleasant Prairie, Twin Lakes and the University of Wisconsin – Parkside, as well as, Carthage College’s public safety director, the Wisconsin State Patrol and Kenosha County David Zoerner.

The agency’s top cops met with Kerkman during the two-hour session which concluded with a press conference in her office.

“I just wanted to say, today is the first time bringing everybody together with law enforcement partners both at the state level and our local level because it’s important,” Kerkman said. “Public safety is something that I think our constituents talk about every single day.”
