Authorities and organizations in western Mass. are responding to the tragedy in New Orleans New Years Day. [Video]

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Authorities and organizations in western Mass. are responding to the tragedy in New Orleans New Year’s Day.

Massachusetts State Police releasing a statement Wednesday about the attack in New Orleans saying in part:

“The Massachusetts State Police grieve the tragic and senseless loss of life early this morning in New Orleans…We remain in close collaboration with our federal, state and local partners to monitor new information and ensure the safety of Massachusetts communities. At this time, there is no known connection or any direct threat to Massachusetts.”

This terror attack also coming just a few months before celebrations like the Holyoke Saint Patrick’s Day Parade which happens right here in western Mass. in March.

Western Mass News did reach out to the Holyoke Saint Patrick’s Committee for a statement regarding today’s attack.
