DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – Decatur City Schools said a seventh-grade student is facing disciplinary action following a threat that was made to a middle school Tuesday evening.
The administration at Austin Middle School was made aware of a potential threat during after-school hours on Tuesday, according to a DCS spokesperson.

DCS told News 19 that a seventh-grade student had sent a message on social media while holding “some sort of handgun.”
When the Decatur Police Department responded to the student’s home, he and his parents cooperated with officers. The student said he had gotten into a disagreement with his peers and was frustrated when the message was sent.
