Augusta city leaders discuss transportation, housing, and safety during Sunday press conference [Video]

Augusta, Ga (WJBF) – In Sunday’s Press Conference, Augusta city leaders continued to give updates on electricity and water restoration, as well as answering questions from viewers about housing, transportation, and safety.

Mayor Garnett Johnson stated, “In making sure we house the most needed, our shelters are in operation at both Henry H. Brigham (2463 Golden Camp Rd) and that’s being run by the American Red Cross and down at May Park Community Center (622 4th St). There’s another positive that our centers are not at capacity. So if there’s someone who needs housing or needs some place to go, you can certainly go there.”

When asked about transportation assistance for those who are unable to drive to distribution centers and shelters, Mayor Johnson asked for patience, and ensured that recovery partners will be able to assist.
