Audit warns of AI sexual exploitation in Tennessee [Video]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Artificial intelligence (AI) has the ability to simplify many aspects of life, but it’s also created new complexities when it comes to investigating child exploitation.

An October state audit report found that these images are making it more difficult for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and law enforcement departments across the state to determine if a real child is in danger.

“Content can be created by scratch or it can be the manipulation of existing pictures, whether they were already exploitative to begin with or truly just innocuous pictures that are now made to look like they’re sexually exploited,” executive director for the Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), Jennifer Newman, said.
