An initial investigation revealed the two girls were walking on Dennison Street with friends when they were approached by a vehicle, according to investigators.
AUBURN, Maine — Auburn police are investigating a shooting Wednesday morning that sent a juvenile with a gunshot wound to the hospital.
Police responded to the area of Winter Street and Dennison Street after receiving multiple calls reporting a girl had been shot in the leg around 5:11 a.m., according to a social media post from the department.
Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old girl from Lewiston with a gunshot wound to the leg. One officer applied a tourniquet to the female’s leg to control bleeding, the post stated. She was brought to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. The girl’s 17-year-old sister also was brought to the hospital with “unknown minor injuries,” according to police.
