A 16-year-old girl was reportedly shot in the leg while walking on Dennison Street on Jan. 1.
AUBURN, Maine — Auburn police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest who may be connected to a New Year’s Day shooting incident.
Police responded to the area of Winter Street and Dennison Street Wednesday, after receiving multiple calls reporting a girl had been shot in the leg around 5:11 a.m., according to a social media post by the department.
Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old girl from Lewiston with a gunshot wound to the leg. One officer applied a tourniquet to the female’s leg to control the bleeding, the post stated. She was brought to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. The girl’s 17-year-old sister also was brought to the hospital with “unknown minor injuries,” according to police.
