Auburn High School reports whooping cough [Video]

Auburn High School received a report of a case of pertussis, also known as the “whooping cough,” on Monday, according school officials.

The Alabama Department of Public Health urged parents to have their children up to date with all school vaccines. 

AHS first heard about the pertussis when ADPH called the school’s nurses to inform them of the case, said Daniel Chesser, public relations coordinator of Auburn City Schools. 

On Monday afternoon, the administration at AHS sent a notification, via email and text alert, to the parents/guardians whose children were identified for possible exposure. A letter provided by the ADPH was attached to the notification. 

In the letter, ADPH told the parents/guardians that they had received a report of a case of pertussis at the school.
