PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – The Oregon Beverage Alliance is calling 2024 the “Hardest Year for Oregon Craft Brewers.”
According to a release from the group, “Since the pandemic, Oregon has lost nearly 75 breweries, taprooms, and brewpubs—at least 35 of those in 2024.”
“We’ve seen more closures this year for the first time compared to openings than we have in the 21st century,” said Sam Pecoraro, brewmaster at Von Ebert Brewing and president of the Oregon Brewers Guild.
Pecoraro noted inflation, supply chain issues, employee shortages, the pandemic, and a downward trend in drinking as factors contributing to recent closures.
Von Ebert’s Pearl District location closed in April 2024. The company has been located on Northwest 13th Avenue for six years. It is now refocusing on its new canning production facility and taproom at the former Ecliptic Brewing facility on North Cook Street.
