ASP seized more than 400 pounds of marijuana in Crawford County traffic stops [Video]

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Arkansas State Police arrested four people and seized more than 400 pounds of marijuana in two traffic stops in Crawford County.

According to a press release from ASP, troopers stopped a rented 2023 white Suburban around 8 a.m. on June 18 on Interstate 40 headed east at the 1-mile mark in Crawford County near Van Buren for a traffic violation.

The release says after searching the Suburban, troopers found nine trash bags and one duffle bag filled with 325 pounds of illegal marijuana with an estimated street value of more than $487,000. ASP says it also seized over $25,000 in cash from the two occupants of the Suburban.

ASP arrested the driver, Christian Nichols, 50, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and the passenger, Giovanni Capozzi, 21, of Fresno, California. They were taken to the Crawford County Detention Center.
