Ashtabula area, already hit by heavy snow, prepares for even more [Video]

Some parts of the community have already seen five feet of snow. Now, projected strong winds threaten buildings and structures that are already unstable.

ASHTABULA, Ohio — Ashtabula County is not looking forward to Wednesday night’s snow, given they were just slammed with roughly five feet of it over the last several days.

Ashtabula Fire Chief Shawn Gruber says his department’s responded to more than 100 snow-related calls since last Friday. Collapsed roofs, residents stuck in houses, people needing to get to hospitals, downed trees and power lines, and clogged vents causing carbon monoxide issues are amongst the many problems they’ve already been dealing with.

Gov. Mike DeWine on Tuesday placed the county under a state of emergency. Now, they’re dreading more incoming snow.
