EUGENE, Ore. — An early morning break-in at The Rink Exchange turned into an arson case, leaving behind extensive damage but sparking an outpouring of community support.
First responders were dispatched to the rink around 6 a.m. on November 28, Thanksgiving Day, after an individual shattered a double paned glass window to gain entry. The suspect vandalized the pro shop, stealing merchandise and causing thousands of dollars in damage.
“They threw some bricks through the glass, got in there, stole a whole bunch of merchandise through our pro-shop, [and] vandalized quite a bit,” said General Manager Flint Doungchak.
