Arrest made in murder of former Clemson WR Diondre Overton [Video]

Jeremiah Blanks is currently being held in Michigan, pending extradition.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday that an arrest has been made in the murder investigation of former Page High and Clemson wide receiver Diondre Overton, who was shot and killed in the early morning hours of Sept. 7 in Greensboro.

Jeremiah Diago Blanks, 20, is currently in the custody of the Oakland County Jail in Pontiac, Michigan, pending extradition after a warrant was issued for his arrest. Detectives detained Blanks in Michigan on Tuesday with help of the U.S. Marshals Service, according to a press release.

Blanks’ attorney said he will not plead guilty. His mother told WFMY News 2 Blanks had been in North Carolina for work at the time of the shooting.

During a press conference Wednesday, the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office revealed new details in the case.
