RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – An arrest has been made in connection to a shooting that happened on Oct. 4 in Rapid Valley.
Travis Chipps, 18, of Rapid City was charged with attempted murder. Chipps was already being held in the Pennington County Jail on an arrest for possession of a controlled drug or substance and underage purchase possession or consumption of an alcoholic beverage.
A preliminary hearing for Chipps has not yet been scheduled.
Some key points from the original press release by the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office are that law enforcement was called to the 4200 block of Apple Tree Road for a report of a male subject knocking on doors asking for help after having been shot. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement located the victim and transported him to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
While investigating the shooting, an attempted burglary was reported in close proximity in the 6200 block of E. Highway 44.
Police say they believe the two incidents are related.
