The U.S. Coast Guard team at Air Station Sitka has been helping maintain trails in the community. Sitka Trail Works shared photos on Facebook thanking the team that transported tons of gravel and lumber along the Kaasda Heen Trail this week. The group says this generous contribution of flight time is instrumental in trail maintenance efforts.

Attention bike riders in Anchorage: Have you gotten a chance to check out the protected bike lane downtown? If so, city officials are asking you to take an online survey and share your thoughts. If you have not checked out the bike lane yet, you’ll want to soon as it’s expected to close in September.

In Juneau, the cement is gone and the ice is nice at the Treadwell Arena. The arena invited families to lace up their skates for a “Back to School Skate” on Thursday. And all the fun was free thanks to the generosity of the Douglas Fourth of July Committee.
