INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. (WBTV) – Homeowners across the region are battling a destructive insect infestation – armyworms.
These green worms, in their larval stage, can devour lawns in a matter of days.
Heather King, a resident of the Crismark community in Indian Trail, discovered the brown patches characteristic of armyworm damage after neighbors reported similar issues online. Upon closer inspection, she found the culprit – a small green worm.
“Within, I’d say, two minutes of bending over and looking at the ground,” King said. “I found a worm.”
King was thankful they caught the damage early and were able to take care of the worms, but other homes in the neighborhood had more severe damage.
