Applications open for 2024 Women’s Farm2Food Accelerator Program [Video]

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The Nevada Farm2Food Program supports small-scale women farmers and food entrepreneurs as they refine a food and beverage value-added product and explore new markets.

Dillon Davidson, senior trade officer for the Nevada Department of Agriculture; and Crystal Leon, co-owner, maker and farmer at The Radish Hotel, stopped by Morning Break to encourage other specialty female farmers to get involved in this program. Leon participated three years ago and said one of the biggest impacts of the program was meeting industry experts she wouldn’t have been able to connect with any other way.

Research shows that value-added production, the act of processing raw agricultural goods into finished products such as food or beverage products, can increase farmers’ profitability, increase the shelf stability of products, expand the market season, increase farm visibility, and allow them to enter new markets.
