SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Springfield Prep Charter School kicked off its third annual Latinx and Hispanic Heritage Month Block Party, and hundreds of community members attended.
More than 70% of Springfield Prep scholars are Hispanic or Latinx, and the school honored its diverse culture by partnering with local Latinx businesses and vendors.
Salsa lessons, arts and crafts, and several Latinx food trucks were available throughout the event.
We caught up with Angela Gonzalez and Zoey Rivera, who told us a little more about the event.
“This is our second or third year attending, and so, there’s a lot of local vendors putting on a great experience for the community, not only for students, and Zoey and her dance team are actually in a little bit, about an hour, going to be up on stage performing,” Gonzalez shared.
