Annual fall Food for Lane County drive adjusts to change in partnership | News [Video]

Ahead of the holiday season, Food for Lane County says they are in high demand of nonperishable foods.

EUGENE, Ore. — Food for Lane County’s annual “Fall Letter Carriers Food Drive” looked a little different Saturday, but a change in partners did not stop them from meeting a critical need.

The food drive had to take a different approach this year because for the first time since the mid-1980s, letter carriers in Eugene did not participate for unknown reasons.

Rebecca Sprinson, Director of Development with Food for Lane County, joined staff at the Market of Choice on 29th and Willamette as they collected food donations. Sprinson said although the food bank questions why the carriers did not want to participate, she is thankful the grocery chain could come in to assist them.
