Annual Disability Pride Festival continues to excite [Video]

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Madison’s annual Disability Pride Festival was held at Warner Park Saturday.

The festival features crafts, adaptive sports, food and much more.

Started over 10 years ago, the event is a space where people with a variety of disabilities, and advocates, can connect with organizations and others in their community.

The President for Disability Pride Madison, Dr. Nakia Wiley, stressed the importance of empowerment and bringing disability pride to the spotlight.

“We need as many people here as possible; we want to uplift the importance of being proud of your disability whatever it is, we are going to end the stigma and we can only do that collectively together, and yeah this is a big party, we are partying yes we are,” she said.
