NEW HAVEN, CT (WFSB) — For many families in New Haven, a hot Thanksgiving meal shared with loved ones has become a cherished tradition, thanks to the efforts of Pastor Brenda Adkins and her husband, Johnny.
Their annual community event, known as the “Day of Joy,” not only provides a warm meal but also offers essential supplies to families in need during the holiday season.
This year’s event, held at the Q House, welcomed hundreds of families who gathered to enjoy a Thanksgiving feast together.
Among them was Lyric, who enjoyed a hearty meal of cake, yams, macaroni and cheese, and potato salad.
Her mother, Theressa Butler, said the event has become a yearly tradition for their family.
“I enjoyed all the food. I was here last year and I love it,” said Butler. “I love coming here.”
