RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – The Rapid City Legal and Finance Committee met on Wednesday to consider the Community Development Block Grant Action Plan.
The program is used to develop viable communities, support affordable housing, address vulnerable populations, promote economic growth and more.
$520,000 are expected to be allocated from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the plan to put toward the non-profits the program is designed to assist.
Rapid City’s Community Enrichment Division Manager Michelle Schuelke said it is important for cities to use money that isn’t just from local funds.
“It’s very critical, especially for the mid-sized communities to not only use their local funds, but to tap into this annual funding source to help bolster their impact,” Schuelke said.
