Anne Hathaway confirms Princess Diaries 3 is on the way [Video]

US actress Anne Hathaway has confirmed Princess Diaries 3 is in the works, in a video shared to her social media.

The Princess Diaries series, based on the books by Meg Cabot, follows Amelia ‘Mia’ Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi as she goes from shy schoolgirl to eventual Queen of the fictional Genovia.

In the video, Hathaway featured snippets of the iconic “shut up!” line in both movies before uttering her own while holding up three fingers.

“Miracles happen,” she captioned the video.

“Back to Genovia with (Adele Lim).

“The fairy tale continues.”

Lim is best known for directing Crazy Rich Asians, but has also worked on Joy Ride and Raya and the Last Dragon.

In the first Princess Diaries instalment, released in 2001, Mia learns she is heir to the Genovian throne and must decide if she wants the title.
