As firefighters battle a raging blaze near Athens, anger is spreading among Greeks who lamented the government’s “lack of planning” in the event of wildfires, FRANCE 24’s Nathalie Savaricas said. “[People] are saying Greece is not ahead of its game … the average age of a firefighter in Greece is above 45 years old, and that’s just an indication of how Greece needs to step up, there’s not enough and no integrated fire management strategy”, Savaricas said, citing experts.
