Anchorage Public Safety Forum Shifted to Alaska Coalition for Justice | Health [Video]

Following recent police-involved shootings, Anchorage’s Public Health and Safety Committee wanted to host a community conversation about public safety this Friday, but now, that’s not happening.

Instead, the Alaska Coalition for Justice will host the event on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

“It’s clear that our community needs space to grieve, reflect, and heal from the rippling impacts of recent officer-involved shootings and government needs to listen. Although I expressed intent to host a community conversation on Friday, September 6, I am pleased to step aside in support of an event hosted by a coalition of community organizations,” said Kameron Perez-Verdia, District 3 West Anchorage, in a statement.

The event, A Community Conversation About Public Safety, will take place on Tuesday, September 10 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m..
