Anchorage police have provided an update on a shocking and rare act of random violence that occurred last month along the University Medical District Trail System. The shooting on November 24 left four victims impacted. Now, police have made a breakthrough in the case.
On December 14, Anchorage police responded to a disturbance near the University Lake Trail System in East Anchorage. There, they encountered Alex Manley, who had a rifle and ammunition matching evidence from the November 24th shooting. When approached, Manley became combative with officers and was arrested for Assault in the 3rd Degree.
Since his arrest, detectives have linked Manley to the shooting through an extensive investigation. He now faces multiple charges, including:
- One count of Assault in the 1st Degree for causing serious injury with a weapon,
- Three counts of Assault in the 3rd Degree for causing fear of injury with a weapon, and
