Anchorage police address 4 officer-involved shootings within 40 days [Video]

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Anchorage police held a press conference Monday, just days following a fourth officer-involved shooting within 40 days.

According to the Anchorage Police Department, an armed standoff on June 19 left 58-year-old Lisa Fordyce-Blair dead. APD says Fordyce-Blair fired a weapon inside her home on East 20th Avenue, prompting return fire from Sgt. Jonathan Butler.

Police say an autopsy was conducted Monday morning and the community relations unit will release an official cause of death following the medical examiner’s assessment.

The press conference mirrored the statement initially released by police. The only new information learned was that the SWAT team that responded to the incident was not equipped with body cameras.

“All SWAT officers who work patrol have been fitted with body-worn cameras and they do wear those cameras during their patrol duties,” Police Chief-Designee Bianca Cross said. “Those same cameras do not fit properly when SWAT officers are wearing their full SWAT gear. Therefore, …
