ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – An Anchorage Assembly member told those attending a Chamber of Commerce luncheon Monday that since 2021 the city’s spent $15 million in alcohol tax dollars on public safety, addressing domestic violence, substance abuse, and supporting the city’s homeless population.
Assembly Member Anna Brawley went onto say the money goes toward housing and mental health services, including the Fire Department’s Mobile Crisis Team and Providence Alaska Medical Center’s Stabilization Center.
The municipality has created a public survey asking how residents want to see the city utilize the alcohol tax. The survey is available until May 1.
“Really what we want to do with this strategic plan is step back and say where should we be doing this long term.
