Next Thursday, Anchorage’s Fairview community will see neighbors helping neighbors in an inspiring effort to combat food insecurity.
Chris and Maria Crawford, two local women, are taking action to support their community. Every first and fourth Thursday of the month, from 6 to 7 p.m., they offer pre-packed bags containing three meals a day.
The goal is simple: to create a self-sustaining resource for those in need.
“So this is just kind of like that first step. To actually have a space where we can have food and people can come in and take what they need and then go.”
However, this past Thursday, the women only had enough donations to fill five bags. They are always looking for more help from the community. Donations and volunteers are always welcome to help fill the gaps.
