Queensland’s tropical locations will double for the Amazon rainforest in a reimagined version of the 1997 film Anaconda, which is set to inject $40 million into the state’s economy and create jobs for more than 300 screen industry professionals.
The production, secured through Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy, has commenced filming and will star comedic actors Jack Black and Paul Rudd.
The news follows other screen industry announcements for Queensland this month including plans for a Bluey feature film and the start of filming for the romantic comedy You, Always with Hollywood star Adrian Grenier of Entourage fame.
Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent) wrote the script for the Anaconda remake, with Gormican directing. Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing.
