RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Amusement park fanatics, developers say the largest family entertainment and residential destination in South Dakota is still expected to open in Rapid City.
“Liberty Land”, slated to be built near the intersection of Mall Drive and Lacrosse Street, hasn’t broken ground yet, but plans are still in the works.
Rapid City council members unanimously approved the mixed-use development back in December 2022.
Plans for the 300-acre property will include a themed RV Resort, amusement park, indoor/outdoor amphitheater, an indoor water park, a neighborhood with dining, housing, shopping and a hotel and conference center.
The City’s Community Development Director Vicki Fisher says the project will be a high-quality theme park which will compete with other top parks including Disneyland and Universal Studios.
The city felt there was a need to add another layer to the area’s tourism scene.
