Amherst receives planning grant for south Madison Heights [Video]

Amherst County has received a Community Development Planning Grant from the state to assess housing and infrastructure needs within the South Madison Heights area.

The grant is through the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. The county’s goal is to create a development strategy that will eventually revitalize an area within the Madison Heights community, according to a county news release.

The county is seeking residents’ feedback to determine areas of most need along parts of Seminole Drive, Lakeview Drive, Old Wright Shop Road and the Lakeland Circle subdivision, the release states.

The county will hold community engagement events related to the South Madison Heights CDBG planning grant soon. Residents are asked to complete a brief survey for feedback on community needs at https://form.jotform.com/241305456279156.
