MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCSC) – A group of Moncks Corner community members created a petition to see change.
After a traffic development was approved alongside Rembert C. Dennis Blvd. in May of this year, almost 150 people are petitioning against it.
Neighbors are concerned because as a neighborhood of townhomes is being built across the street, there will also be an entrance exit point directly across from Edward Dr.
One community member, Rose Howe, believes this will create a ripple effect of traffic and accidents.
“While we understand development and growth is going to happen, let’s be proactive and do things the right way as opposed to reactive and go oh we should’ve done that in the beginning,” Howe says.
Prior to the plan approval, the South Carolina Department of Transportation and the town had a traffic engineer analyze the traffic flow which led to the idea of a stop sign with additional lanes …
