Allen County unveils new inclusive playground at Fred Hale Park [Video]

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) – The latest addition to Allen County’s parks brings a fully accessible, inclusive playground to Fred Hale Park, near the site of the county’s incoming 120-acre community park.

Judge executive Dennis Harper shared that when compiling data for the community park, county leadership sent out a community survey. In that survey, an inclusive park was a top priority for community members.

Included in the playground’s design is a ground-level ramp to access the playground, allowing wheelchair users to explore almost the entirety of the playground. Throughout the new site, interactive sensory boards provide auditory and tactile stimulation.

Detached from the playground, the new site features a wheelchair-accessible merry-go-round and an accessible swing set.
